Habitat Volunteers Raise Walls
Kittanning, PA - The Armstrong County Habitat for Humanity partner family came closer to seeing dreams come true when, for the second Saturday in a row, a solid crew of volunteers met at the worksite on North Grant Avenue. Last week was flooring; this week all four walls were built and stood up in a single day. Next Saturday's schedule is changed... the goal for the day is not 'roof trusses', it's A ROOF!
With five children in a cramped, substandard apartment, Mitch and Teresa Murray were selected in mid-2002 as the next family to get help. Both have been active in fundraising, monthly meetings, and on the current worksite. Sweat equity of 300-500 hours is mandated for Habitat for Humanity consideration.
Paul Klukan directed workers at the site. Owner of Klukan Construction, Paul has been instrumental in completing several Habitat houses in the past and brought members of Venture Crew 630 with him, where Paul is an advisor. In Armstrong County where there is a large degree of self-sufficiency, some of the Crew members already have skills to build, remodel, and maintain their own homes.
VOLUNTEER CALL! If you live in the Kittanning Area and want to help, call one of the following phone numbers to make contact. Lunch is provided and a rough count of workers has been requested from volunteers who prepare and serve lunch.
