One of my pet peeves is not being totally sure of online maps, whether they will get me where I need to go or whether I’ll get lost instead. On one of my geekier days, I decided to create an online mapmaking form that will generate a unique web page address (URL) for each map on the fly.
Using those distinct URLs, I’ve had friends, family, and business associates on the same page with me in less than a minute! More than once I’ve created a map and shared with someone to find out if it was good or not. And if it’s not, I can edit the map and resend until I get it right.
BONUS! Each form allows the map maker to add content unique to his or her situation. Example: http://m279.local4all.com. This map was created for a bicycling enthusiast from Pittsburgh who was bringing his kids with him to ride on the Armstrong Trail. Being just a bit of a history nut and proud of Kittanning, I added some historical ‘talking points’ in the map’s description area. Check it out! Then use your imagination and my map-making tool to help others get where they need to go, with FLAIR!
Got a business? Promoting a nonprofit? Links are allowed as long as everything is family-friendly, child-safe content.
