It's an interview of First Lady Michelle Obama with kids other than her own, but there's a connection between them and her daughters. "I know Sasha" comes from the mouth of a little tyke who might still be looking forward to her third birthday. Too bad we can't UNprint 40,000 placemats and add this link to a revised version. Read more | | | Race Renamed in Jackie Kallal's Honor | Indiana, PA | Competitors who knew Jackie will always have a sweet spot in their heart for her. For ten years, Jackie Kallal organized triathlons to benefit different Habitat for Humanity chapters in western Pennsylvania, including Kids' Triathlons in Pittsburgh and Greensburg.
One fond remembrance I have of Jackie was her mantra of "no swimmer left behind". Although she was strong in the water, she always swam beside the slowest swimmer and offered encouragement. From Howard Bernstein, I learned this weekend that, when the Johnstown YMCA contacted her and asked if she thought they could handle a triathlon as a fundraiser, she offered her assistance without hesitation. This year the triathlon at Yellow Creek State Park was renamed the Jackie Kallal Triathlon in her honor. Read more | | | NEW!
